PhD program for Tyrolean universities – Extended Deadline

Funding amount: EUR 110,000 (max. 50% of the total amount is funded)
Scientific disciplines: Natural sciences and technical sciences with a specific connection to Tyrolean companies
Project duration: 24 – max. 36 months
Requirement: Employment of the doctoral candidate at least 50% over the entire duration of the project
Any missing funding should be provided by Tyrolean companies (Letter of Intent (LOI) of the company involved is necessary)
A maximum of 4 applications per university will be funded.

ÖFG – International Communication
The research funding programme “International Communication” of the Austrian Research Association complements the opportunities provided by universities and project funding institutions across Austria with regard to travel funds for trips abroad and for inviting researchers to Austria.
Funding is primarily intended for young scholars whose previous achievements are of high quality and who are unable to receive sufficient funding from other organisations for formal reasons or due to exhaustion of funds.

LBG – Clinical Research Groups
The main applicant of a CRG, the Lead Institution, must be an Austrian medical university/faculty with an affiliated university hospital.
The Lead Institution is asked to team up with one or more cooperation partners (e.g. public or private universities, universities of applied sciences, hospitals and/or non-profit academic research institutes) to form a consortium that must represent different disciplines.

Travelling Fellowships
The Company of Biologists’ journals – Development, Journal of Cell Science, Journal of Experimental Biology and Disease Models & Mechanisms – offers Travelling Fellowships to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers wishing to make collaborative visits to other laboratories. These are designed to offset the cost of travel/accommodation and other related expenses. There is no restriction on nationality.
Applicants should be working in the field of the journal to which they apply and plan to visit another laboratory.

- Call for proposals on advancing the adoption of artificial intelligence in health
- Call for proposals on health promotion and prevention of non-communicable and communicable diseases, including vaccine-preventable and other cancers caused by infections, and on smoke- and aerosol-free environments

Life Sciences Initiative: Funding for one of the key industries in Austria
As part of "Austrian Life Sciences 2024 to 2026", there is support for the life sciences sector and its increased capital requirements, which are typical for the industry. R&D company projects and lead projects are funded in the research categories of industrial research or experimental development, as well as clinical studies.

Tyrolean co-financing for COMET projects
The call for COMET projects is open from April 16, 2024. The aim of the COMET projects is to carry out excellent research in collaboration between science and business. A total of around 10 million euros in federal funding is available. The FFG supports your high-quality research program, which must be open thematically but clearly defined. The maximum public funding (federal and state funding) is 45% with up to 0.675 million euros per year. The call is thematically open (bottom-up)

Federal funding: max. 0,45 M € p/a
Regional funding: max. 0,225 M € p/a
Funding intensity: 45% of project budget
Missing funding by companies (at least 45%) and inkind contribution of university (at least 5%)
Project duration: 3 - 4 years
