Generation and tailoring of complex fields:

Phase masks on the SLM can be utilized to generate mode patterns of high quality. Using a “split SLM screen” technique, where one superposes two SLM-shaped beams with a chosen phase-shift, one can create Hermite-Gaussian and Laguerre-Gaussian vector beams, e.g. radially and axially polarized beams:
