Research topics

Ribosomes are multifunctional ribonucleo-protein (RNP) complexes that translate the genetic information in form of mRNA into proteins. Therefore, protein synthesis is essential in all living organisms and requires an orchestrated interplay of numerous molecules. Our aim is to contribute to a better understanding of the molecular interactions during translation. We use modified RNAs to manipulate interplay between mRNA, tRNA and rRNA and determine their impact on different step of protein synthesis.
