Doctoral Programs (DKs)

The DK Program, which was restructured in 2008, targets groups of researchers from all disciplines at Austrian universities as well as non-profit research institutions outside of the university setting.

The purpose of the program is to promote the development of education centers for highly qualified young scholars from the national and international scientific community.

These projects are also intended to support concentration in specific areas of research at Austrian research institutions and to enhance the continuity and impact of those focus areas.

DK projects can only be established at research institutions which have the accreditation necessary to award doctoral degrees.

Grants are approved for a maximum of 12 years.
