Austrian Student Union fee
All full and non-degree students must pay the Austrian Student Union fee of € 19,70 within the prescribed periods.
NOTE: Students who do not pay the required amount within the admission period are irrevocably de-registered from the Innsbruck Medical University.
College fees
NOTE: Students subject to compulsory fees who do not pay the required amount within the admission period are irrevocably de-registered from the Innsbruck Medical University.
1. Full students from EU/EEA, students subject to the Austrian Regulation on Eligible Groups of Persons, and students with equal rights for access to professions based on international law agreements.
1.1 Medicine/dentistry (degree program):
Students, on schedule in the course schedule or who do not exceed the duration of their current section by more than two semesters, do not have to pay college fees.
If the period is exceeded, college fees of € 363,36 must be paid during the extension period, increasing by 10% per semester. That results in a total fee (Austrian Student Union + college fee) of € 383,06 in the general admission period and € 419,40 in the extension period.
Exceptions/waiver conditions: See below
1.2 PhD/Clinical PhD (doctoral degree):
Students who are on schedule in their course schedule and do not exceed it by more than two semesters do not have to pay college fees.
If the period is exceeded, college fees of € 363,36 must be paid during the extension period, increasing by 10% per semester.
Exceptions/waiver conditions: See below
That results in a total fee (Austrian Student Union + college fee) of € 383,06 in the general admission period and € 419,40 in the extension period.
1.3 Molecular medicine (bachelor degree):
Due to the implementation status, all students of Molecular Medicine are currently on schedule in the standard course duration and do not have to pay college fees.
2. Full-time students from overseas,
who are not subject to the Austrian Law on Eligible Groups of Persons or have equal status for access to professions based on international law agreements, must pay college fees of € 726,72 from the first semester. The amount does not increase during the extension period.

3. Non-degree students
Non-degree students of individual classes must pay college fees of € 363,36 from the first semester on. The amount does not increase during the extension period.
Non-degree students of university courses must pay the individually specified course fee, but no additional college fees.
Exceptions – College fees:
1. Multiple programs
If multiple programs are taken at multiple universities, every university calculates the fee exemption period independently of the other. Accordingly, it is possible that students are exempt from college fees at one university, but have already used up the fee-exempt period at another and a college fee is imposed.
If students are enrolled at multiple universities and subject to fees, they must submit a potential application for waiver or reimbursement at each university in accordance with the provisions valid at this university!
NOTE: Students registered at multiple universities must still submit a notification of continuation within the admission period at the university where the prescribed amount was not paid.
2. Waiver conditions:
The college fees can be waived under the following conditions:
- Students for the semesters in which they documentably complete study or practical periods as part of transnational EU, national or university mobility programs
- Full foreign students from partner universities
- Students prevented from participating in their courses for more than 2 months due to illness or pregnancy.
- Verification:
Confirmation of this by medical specialist
- Primary care of children until their 7th birthday or later, if they start school after this age.
- Verification:
Birth certificate of the child,
Registration certificate of the student,
Registration certificate of the child, whereby the specified address must match the address of the student, and
Affidavit of the student that they have the primary responsibility for caring for the child
- Periods of military and social service, if they exceed two months of the semester in question including the semester breaks.
- Verification:
Confirmation from military command or the social security agency
- Students who have temporarily suspended their studies
- If a disability of at least 50% is present in accordance with Austrian laws.
- Verification:
Disability pass from the Federal Social Security Office
- Students who received student grants in accordance with the Study Promotion Act 1992, BGBI. No. 305, last amended by Federal Law BGBl. I No. 135/2009, in the last semester or receive it in the current semester.

The law for refund of study fee has changed according to a decision of the Austrian Constitutional Court. Up to June 30th 2018 § 92 UG 2002 is no more valid.
Application periods
1. Waiver:
For winter semester 2018/19: 06.08. – 01.10.2018
2.Reimbursement:
Reimbursement is granted on the basis of an application if a waiver condition can be made plausible retrospectively for the corresponding semester.
Application for reimbursement of the college fees:
An application for reimbursement of the college fees for the winter semester must be made by the following March 31. Application for reimbursement of the college fees for the summer semester shall be accepted until the following September 30.
3. Applications
Applications must be submitted in person and in full during the official opening hours of the Department for Teaching and Academic Affairs submitting the verifications mentioned above.
An application shall be considered submitted in full if all information required in the form has been provided and confirmed by signature and the originals of the corresponding verifications were submitted.
