Career position according to § 99 (5) Universities Act

With more than 2,200 employees and approximately 3,600 students, the Medical University of Innsbruck is the most important medical research and educational institution in western Austria and, together with the Tyrol Clinics at the Innsbruck Provincial Hospital, is responsible for high-quality regional and national patient care. The promotion of highly qualified young academics is one of the most important elements in expanding and securing the national and international reputation and profile of the Medical University of Innsbruck. An essential instrument for this are the career positions according to § 99 Abs 5 UG.

Information can be found in § 99 Abs 5 UG and in the Betriebsvereinbarung über Inhalt und Modalitäten von Qualifizierungsvereinbarungen gemäß § 27 Abs. 8 Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten (Uni-KV).

  4. Summary and documentation concerning research and teaching achievements in the relevant area of research

    • research achievements
    • previous experience in conceiving and acquiring third party funding as well as leading a respective project
    • teaching activities

    • certificate of a 'Habilitation' at the Medical University of Innsbruck or a comparable qualification

Additional requirements in case of a applying for position involving medical patient care:

  1. Specialization degree
  2. Proof of fulfilling the criteria for entry into the Austrian Medical Chamber´s list of licensed MDs in Austria ⇒ Weblink to Ärztekammer für Tirol
  3. if asked for: Proof of German language skills with a minimal requirement of the B2 level according to the European reference frame
    Documentation of clinical experience

The successful applicant will initiate an employment relationship with the Medical University of Innsbruck. After having completed a successful evaluation, she/he will be offered a qualification agreement, after 18 months at the latest. Following the fulfillment of this qualification agreement, based on a positive evaluation, the employment relationship will be transferred into a tenured contract as an associate professor.
