The Seventh Framework Programme for research and technological development (FP7) is the European Union’s chief instrument for funding research. It will last for seven years from 2007 to 2013 with a total budget of over 50 billion EUR.
FP7 is a key tool to respond to Europe’s needs in terms of jobs and competitiveness, and to maintain leadership in the global knowledge economy.
Two main strategic objectives are to strengthen the scientific and technological base of European industry, and to encourage its international competitiveness, while promoting research that supports EU policies.
Activities must have a “European added value“, i.e. research projects are carried out with Transnationality, its results should raise the whole European value etc.
