FWF -The Austrian Science Fund

FWF – the Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research – is Austria’s central institution for the funding of basic research.

It is equally committed to all sciences and its activities are guided exclusively by the standards of the international scientific community.

Documents with the application

The following documents from the respective project manager must be submitted to the research service and innovation department when submitting the application – please allow 3 working days to obtain the signature from the Principal’s office (usually from Vice Principal Bandtlow):

  • FWF or OeNB Application form signed by project manager (in the original)
  • Confirmation from the head of the organisational unit that the project or subproject in the case of research clusters (e.g. DK, SFB) can be carried out at OE if approved (form).
  • Project description including budget

If the project is approved, the following documents must be submitted to the finance and accounting department (external funding service):

  • Approval letter
  • Funding agreement
  • Completed external funding application form
  •  
  • If the project is not approved, please send a brief notification by email to the research service and innovation department.

    ATTENTION: New signature rule for FWF projects or subprojects in research clusters (e.g. DK, SFB)!
    In the future, a separate form must be signed not only by the Vice Principal for research and international affairs but also by the head of the organisational unit to confirm the feasibility of the project in the organisational unit.
    This means that the application should be submitted to the research services and innovation department with the signature of the head of the organisational unit, where it will also be signed by the Vice Principal for research and international affairs.
