Center for Advanced Psychology in Plastic and Transplant Surgery (CAPPTS)

The CAPPTS represents a psychological center of excellence at the Department of Medical Psychology at the Innsbruck Medical University that is dedicated to the psychosocial evaluation of different transplant candidates, particularly of living kidney donors and recipients as well as other candidates undergoing reconstructive or solid organ transplantation. In addition to the psycho-diagnostic evaluation of transplant candidates, also candidates considering plastic surgery are psychosocially evaluated at the CAPPTS.

A special place worth receives the psychosocial evaluation and follow-up of candidates considering reconstructive hand transplantation (RHT): Beside the preoperative psychosocial evaluation of potential candidates considering uni- or bilateral RHT, already transplanted patients are followed up by the CAPPTS team and additional treatment protocols provide longterm psychosocial support after RHT.
