Waiver of tuition fees

Application

An application for a waiver of tuition fees can be submitted by the following deadlines:

  • in the relevant winter semester until 30 September.
  • in the relevant summer semester until 28 or 29 February.

The application must be submitted digitally via ELSA.

Reasons for remission

If one of the following circumstances applies, you can apply for a waiver of the tuition fee.

  • When completing studies/internships within the framework of transnational EU, state or university mobility programs for the respective semester
  • Regular foreign students from partner universities
  • Absence of more than two months due to pregnancy/illness
    • Required documents: confirmation from a specialist.
  • Primarily providing care for children up to their 7th birthday or until they start school, whichever comes later
    • Required documents: The child’s birth certificate and proof of residence for both the student and the child (the addresses MUST match).
  • Completion of military and civilian service
    • Required documents: Confirmation from the military command/civilian service agency stating the duration.
  • Providing ongoing care for close relatives for more than two months during the semester in question
    • Required documents: Confirmation from the person’s physician or proof of their care level, along with proof of residence for both the student and the person requiring care.
  • Students on leave of absence
  • Disability according to federal regulations of at least 50%
    • Required documents: Disability pass from the Federal Social Welfare Office
  • Students if they received study grants in accordance with the Study Assistance Act 1992, BGBI. No. 305, as last amended by Federal Law Gazette I No. 135/2009, or in the current semester.

  • Students from third countries according to Annex StubeiV
