Research Interests
Our assumption is that the development and improvement of therapeutic concepts will evolve from research that is primarily directed towards an understanding of physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms. Scientific work at the Molecular Biology Research Laboratory is spurred by the intention to better understand molecular and cellular processes that underlie pediatric malignancies. In particular the groups at the MBRL focus on the molecular basis of programmed cell death in leukemia and neuroblastoma. The second main interest is the identification of target-specific drugs by a combined approach of an in silico based pharmacophore modelling and development of efficient biochemical and cell biological drug screening methods.
