The Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine Department is a joint facility of the University Clinics of Internal Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine.  Its responsibilities include the care of patients with acute or life-threatening diseases, as well as the representation of this area in teaching and research.  The core facility includes the Internal Medicine Emergency Department in the Anichstrasse Medical Center (MZA Emergency Department) with its respective ward and the Internal Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
