Moleculare Medicine (MSc)

Admission 

All following individuals are entitled to participate in the admission procedure:

      • individuals who finished the Bachelor’s programme in Molecular Medicine at the Medical University of Innsbruck, or
      • are in the last phase of such programme, or
      • graduates of a Bachelor’s, Diploma or Master’s programme related to the Bachelor’s Programme in Molecular Medicine at a recognised Austrian or foreign postsecondary educational institution or students who are in the final stage of the programme at the time of registering to the admission procedure

The selection of applicants for the Master’s Programme in Molecular Medicine conforms to the provisions of the selection procedure.
The university places allocation takes place via a selection process by means of assessing the following criteria:

      • proof of previous academic performance
      • letter of motivation
      • self-assessment of previous academic performance
      • selection interview

Connected Programs - Moleculare Medicine/Biotechnology

The Medical University of Innsbruck together with the Management Center Innsbruck offer connected Master-level programs titled "Connected Programs Moleculare Medicine/Biotechnology". These programs serve the purpose of deepening and completing the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of moleculare medicine and applied life sciences as well as the extensive professional competence to apply this knowledge in products and services.

Connecting the existing Masters programmes Moleculare Medicine (Medical University Innsbruck) and Biotechnology (Management Center Innsbruck) broadens the scope of each respective programme:

  • Moleculare Medicine students are put in situations in which they have to implement scientific findings in biotechnological products.
  • Biotechnology students gather deep insights into the foundations of moleculare medicine, particularly the medical aspects of biotechnological products.

Online Registration

You can only register via the web portal at any time.

The registration is only valid after the successful payment of the full registraion fee.

After a successful registration as well as a successful and timely payment, the applicants will receive an email confirming the registration and the further instructions. Therefore it is of utmost importance that you state your email address correctly during the online registration and keep your processing number for later reference.

The online registration is considered withdrawn if payment of the full amount is not made within the specified period or the documents required do not arrive in due time. In this case, the registrationis considered withdrawn and a participation in the admission procedure is not possible.

Please note that the registration process is governed by the privacy statement for the administration of applicants of the Medical University of Innsbruck in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
During the online registration, applicants must provide personal information. Applicants receive a processing number constantly required during the admission process. The time and order of the online registrations received during the registration period do not have any impact on the further process. Applications that are incomplete, untruthful, not complying with formal requirements as well as applications received after the end of the registration period are invalid and will not be taken into consideration.

 

Registration Fee

The registration fee is 40.00 EUR.

This amount must arrive on the bank account of the Medical University of Innsbruck (Bank: HYPO, BIC: HYPTAT22, IBAN: AT135700021011130500, Kontoinhaber: Medizinische Universität Innsbruck) before the given registration deadline. Any transaction fees charged by the bank must be taken into account before making the payment.

Every applicant has the strict obligation to follow the updates on the online platform of the Medical Unviersity of Innsbruck, to make the payment in such a way that the registration fee arrives on the bank account specified by the Medical University of Innsbruck on time, as well as to verify the successful payment of the registration fee.

If an applicant, despite having a valid registration, does not  attend the selction interview in person, he or she is not entitled to a refund of the paid registration fee.

 

Documents

The following documents must be submitted electronicall to qmm-aufnahmeverfahren@i-med.ac.at no later than one week before the selction interview:

      • proof of previous academic performance (incl. grade point average)
      • letter of motivation (1-2 DIN A4 pages)
      • self-assessment of previous academic performance (1 DIN A4 page)

 

Date of the Selection Procedure

After consideration of their previous academic performance, their letter of motivation and their self-assessment of their previous academic performance, applicants who have registered for the admission procedure in a timely manner and have paid the registration fee will be invited to a selection interview.

 

Admission

Admission to the Master’s Programme in Molecular Medicine requires that the applicant has received a university place according to his or her final ranking for the respective semester. The applicant has to enroll in the study programm within the given deadline. The applicants must enrol in the programme themselves or via an authorised representative or declare acceptance of the university place in written form within the prescribed period. If the programme is not commenced in due time, the allocated university place expires.

Restrictions to the Master’s Programme in Molecular Medicine at the Medical University of Innsbruck effective from the academic year 2019/20

 

Expiration of University Place

The applicants must enrol in the programme themselves or via an authorised representative or declare acceptance of the university place in written form within the prescribed period.
If the programme is not commenced in due time, the allocated university place expires.

Applications for restitutio in integrum must meet the requirements of art. 71 AVG [Allgemeines Verwaltungsverfahrensgesetz/Austrian General Law of Administrative Procedure] and must arrive at the office of the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Study Matters before 15 September for the winter semester or before 15 February for the summer semester, respectively. The applicant must demonstrate in particular that he or she was prevented from meeting the deadline by an unforeseen or inevitable event and that he or she was not at fault or only to a small degree of error.

 

Lateral Entry

Applicants who have already completed at least 60 ECTS credits within a programme of Medicine, Molecular Medicine or any other comparable programme at a national or an equal recognised foreign post-secondary educational institution and who want to continue their studies at the Medical University of Innsbruck can, upon request, be admitted to the programme despite art. 5 et seq. if they fulfil the requirements for the third or higher semester as well as the other admission requirements and if there are free places available in courses with a limited number of students in accordance with the curriculum.

In case there are free places available in courses with a limited number of students in accordance with the curriculum, allocation of university places for lateral entries is governed by a regulation of the Rectorate.

 

Repeated Participation in the Admission Procedure

Applicants who were not assigned a university place within the programme for any given semester can participate in the admission procedure for the following semesters and can repeatedly participate in the admission procedure without limitation.
