TReND Symposium
On Friday, September 19th, 2025 we hosted the TReND Symposium in Innsbruck. This was an excellent opportunity for our PhD students Clancy Cerejo, Merve Aktan Suezguen, Maja Nikolova, Magdalena Matic, Ilenia Bonini and Noelia Pena Arauzo to present their exciting studies on biomarkers of early diagnosis and progression as well as mechanisms and therapeutic targets in Parkinson's disease (PD), multiple system atrophy (MSA) and REM-sleep behavior disorder (RBD).
We enjoyed the fantastic keynote lectures given by the Advisory Board Members Sonja Scholz, NIH and Alasair Noyce, QMUL on genetic studies in Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and early identification and epidemiological aspects of PD.
We are grateful to the Vice-president of the Medical University Innsbruck Christine Bandtlow and the Director of the Department of Neurology, who joined us to mark the mid-term of the PhD Program on Translational Research in Neurodegeneration.
Last, but not least, thanks for the dedication and the active participation of the Faculty Members (Mentors and Supervisors) Werner Poewe, Birgit Högl, Klaus Seppi, Alessandra Fanciulli, Florian Krismer, Ambra Stefani, Philipp Mahlknecht, Beatrice Heim, Laura Zamarian, and Nadia Stefanova.
It is very inspiring to see transfer of knowledge, expertise and excellence over the generations.
