Mission Statement
The primary aim of our multiprofessional consultation-liaison service is to support patients with severe somatic diseases (e.g. cancer) and their relatives in their coping with the illness. Both patients and their families are exposed to strain and severe burden, such as the communication of the diagnosis, especially stressful medical therapies, or a decline in the course of disease. In coping with these experiences psychological/psychotherpeutic/psychiatric care may be essential.
Another emphasis in our activity is research with special focus on "PRO - Patient-reported Outcomes" (in particular quality of life) and psychoneuroimmunology. In addition, we are concerned with further education of medical and psychological professionals as well as university teaching.
