7th Meeting of Doctoral Students
The 7th Meeting of Doctoral Students will take place on November 11th 2011. This year`s meeting will be again with PhD students of the Medical University and PhD students of the Life Science Disciplines of the Leopold Franzens University. We are happy to announce Prof. Jürgen Knoblich from the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) in Vienna as this year`s speaker for the key lecture! This year`s meeting will be the first one to merge PhD students of the Medical University with PhD students of the Life Science Disciplines of the Leopold Franzens University. Sports-weekend of the Innsbruck Medical University
On Saturday 29th of May and Sunday 30th the Sports-weekend of the MUI is taking place at the USI areal (Fürstenweg 185). Saturday: Soccer-Day and Sunday: Tennis-Day. Please register for participation till 24th of May. For details please check www.skalpell.at.
1st PhD studies-Info-Day of the MUI
On 11th of May our first PhD-Info-Day will take place. Everybody who is already doing his PhD-study at the Innsbruck Medical University and as well everybody, who is interested in doing one is welcome, we will try to answer all your questions. Hope to see you there!
2nd PhD Student Party - Inauguration Party
Due to great response to the last party, we are happy to announce our 2nd PhD Student Party. It will take place at the "La Cabana" (Badgasse 4, old town) on Thursday 9th of July. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our newly elected members - Dani, Peter and Dominik and we would be pleased to welcome all PhD-Students and everybody who wants to get in contact with the PhD-Student-Community. Again there will be free drinks for early birds. We are looking forward to a awesome evening with you!
1st PhD Student Party
We would like to invite you to our 1st PhD Student Party. The Party will take place on Thursday 26th of March in the "Bogen 13" (Ing. Etzelstr. 13) and will start at 8 p.m. .This occasion should provide the possibility to boost the community of PhD Students and to get known to each other. The first 30 guests will be welcomed with a free drink. Of course all former and further PhD Students are welcome too. Hope to see you there.

Infoabend PhD
Am Mittwoch, den 25.4.07 findet wiederum für Interessierte ein Infoabend zum PhD Studium an der Medizinischen Universität statt. Veranstaltungsort ist der Hörsaal 1 in der Fritz Pregl Straße, Beginn ist um 18 Uhr.
Bereits vor einiger Zeit wurde ein solcher Infoabend initiiert in dessen Verlauf doch ersichtlich war, dass es bezüglich dieser Thematik noch viele ungeklärte Fragen gibt.
Um hier etwas Licht in die Angelegenheit zu bringen, konnten wir wiederum mit Prof. Flucher einen der Hauptansprechpartner für diesen Vortrag gewinnen. Weiters wird von Seiten der Studienvertretung für das PhD Studium der Vorsitzende Mag. Simon Schnaiter Rede und Antwort stehen. Es gibt bereits Studierende, die nach abgeschlossenem Medizinstudium (im alten Plan) in einem der Programme studieren. Einer oder mehrere dieser Studierenden werden auch anwesend sein und speziell auf die Fragen zum PhD Studium aus der Sicht von fertigen Medizinern eingehen
Der Hauptteil dieses Infoabends sollte nach kurzen Einführungsreferaten darin bestehen, den Vortragenden Fragen zu stellen und mit ihnen zu diskutieren. Auf eine einzelne Vorstellung der Programme wird dieses mal verzichtet, wobei natürlich die anwesenden Referenten sicherlich auch dazu Auskünfte erteilen bzw. Kontaktadressen bekannt geben können.
Somit hoff ich doch auf rege Teilnahme, da es ja speziell für die Studierenden der höheren Semester langsam interessant wird, ob sie ein soches PhD Studium anhängen möchten.

SPIN - Signal Processing in Neurons
The interdepartmental Neuroscience Ph.D. Program "Signal Processing in Neurons" - SPIN is an initiative of Innsbruck Medical University and Innsbruck Leopold-Franzens University.It is supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
The program aims at training national and international students in advanced neuroscience disciplines ranging from neurogenomics to clinicial neurobiology. It leads to an EC-conform Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
PhD scholarships are available for highly qualified academics from the national and international scientific communities. Salary: € 1.721,30 gross income per month for the proposed three-year duration of your work. Deadline for applications: 21 March 2007

MCBO Awards
Die Preisträger 2007 sind Hannes Neuwirt von der Univ.-Klinik für Urologie, Anamika Singh vom Department für Pharmakologie und Toxikologie der Leopold-Franzens Universität und Petronel Tuluc von der Sektion für Physiologie. Sie erhalten ein einjähriges Doktoratsstipendien, das die Medizinische Universität aus Mitteln des Incentive-Programms des Wissenschaftsministeriums finanziert. In kurzen Präsentationen stellten die Preisträger die ausgezeichneten Forschungsarbeiten vor.

MCBO Science Day 2007
The annual MCBO lecture with the ceremony for the MCBO awards is coming up on Friday, February 23rd.
With Ivan Dikic there is again a first grade speaker. Moreover, this year there will be a poster presentations of
all MO and MCB Students and short oral presentations of the award winners (and of course plenty food and
beverages to keep everyone happy!)
