Jatros 3/2010 - Autonomic dysfunction in Parkinson's Disease
James Parkinson was the first to highlight various autonomic symptoms of the illness which bears his name, particularly those which occur in the final stage of the illness. Numerous studies since then have shown that autonomic dysfunction can manifest in the early (or pre-motor) stages of those Parkinson's diseases which are associated with alpha-synuclein positive Lewy bodies. These include Morbus Parkinson, dementia with Lewy bodies, Parkinson's dementia and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
