Imaris is a commercial software package allowing to perform advanced and challenging interactive 3D image analyses. Due to the high hardware requirements MUI has purchased a high-performance image processing workstation (WinXP 64 bit, 17 Gb RAM, 1Gb graphics card, several harddisks,etc...) located in room 01.370. In general the software is mainly popular for 3D analysis of confocal images, isosurface renderings and advanced movies.
Manuals:
MUI has purchased a number of additional software options allowing to analyze colocalisation (Coloc) and to perform tracking eg. of vesicles but also whole cells (Track) or to measure the properties of neurons (Filament Tracer). More detailed information is available on the website of the vendor. The software also reads most image formats used in confocal imaging, including lif files. For general 3D analysis, though, it is highly recommended to combine SP5 imaging, Huygens Deconvolution and Imaris for optimum results.
Attention: Results from Huygens Deconvolution need to be stored in ics format (not ics2!) in order to be properly read in by Imaris.
Please contact me for an introduction prior to the first use of the software. Booking of the workstation can be done in a similar way as for the SP5 microscope, but we will not invoice any fees, presently. The Imaris workstation may be booked for a maximum of a working day twice a week. The image processing workstation is also equipped with MS Office, ImageJ and MATLAB and allows access to the Huygens Professional server and to the MUI network in order to facilitate data transfer via the networkdrives.
The following softare options are available at MUI:
NEW! Free IMARIS Scene viewer: to view Imaris files generated with the full Imaris version.
