Students

Training students is one of the three central tasks of Innsbruck Medical University, with research-driven teaching taking a leading role.

Based on this approach, Innsbruck Medical University offers three degree programmes: human medicine and dental medicine as fundamental academic medical training, and a doctorate in medical sciences as postgraduate intensification of scientific work for graduates in natural sciences or medical engineering, or as an additional qualification for graduates in human or dental medicine. Some programmes are also offered in a cooperation with Innsbruck Medical University.

All programmes are based on the new curriculum which ensures that the students get a very ambitious, practice-orientated and fair choice of degree programmes. You can obtain all the information on studies, application procedures and pre-requisites, deadlines and schedules, and advice at the Degree Programmes Office. Advice on all matters to do with studying plus information on accommodation, work, etc. is available from the Students Union (Österreichische Hochschülerschaft). During your studies you have the use of a very well equipped general university library plus a special medicine and biology library, as well as a learning center with the latest equipment.

International experience is important both for your later work as a physician and for professional development in science. Innsbruck Medical University is linked into various science networks and offers its students time abroad within the framework of the Socrates/Erasmus programmes.
